After going through tons of different humanitarian programs and study abroad opportunities, we decided to apply to go to CHINA through ILP (International Language Programs)! Now it’s time for some honesty. Places that I have always dreamed of living in: Italy, France, Austria, (obviously about anywhere in Europe), Australia or New Zealand… but China was never at the top of my list. Maybe it’s because I haven’t really seen or heard much about it, and maybe that has to do with the fact that none of the travel bloggers or instagrammers or pinteresters I follow have ever been and posted about it. Who knows! But when I saw that ILP offered a discounted program to China AND had a huge list – incredible pictures included – of places that participants loved to visit in China, my interest was sparked! I started reading about China and the more I learned, the more I LOVED the idea of experiencing all of the festivals and food and beautiful hikes for myself! Like, why doesn’t everyone want to go to China for 6 months?!
Now that we’ve been accepted into the program and finished our flight shopping, it’s starting to dawn on me that I’m going to have to pack 6 months of clothes, shoes, snacks, medicine, etc. into ONE SUITCASE. I’m bringing a carry-on and a checked bag, but the carry-on is strictly dedicated to school supplies for the kiddos that we’ll be teaching. Has anyone else accomplished this yet?? I need all the tips – and you can watch out for a post about HOW TO PACK FOR A 6 MONTH TRIP once I figure it out 😉
